Cooperation among the hottest topics in international current affairs.

Interreg VI Greece-Italy 2021-2027 Programme will be present at the Festival Giornalisti del Mediterraneo, taking place in Otranto from September 3 to 6, under the high patronage of the European Parliament.

The coordinator of the Joint Secretariat, Gianfranco Gadaleta, joined the event “Otranto-Leuca-Tricase Marine Area: Development, Research and Sustainability” on Thursday, September 4, at 9:30 pm in Largo Porta Alfonsina. The other speakers were Francesco Bruni (Mayor of Otranto), Michele Tenore (President of the Otranto-Leuca-Tricase Regional Park), Serena Triggiani (Puglia Region Minister for Environment) and Pasquale Guastamacchia (Confindustria Bari-Bat). The meeting was moderated by Maristella Massari, journalist for La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno.

The Marine Protected Area was presented as a protection that generates development: it enhances biodiversity, attracts ecotourism, promotes knowledge, and cross-border cooperation.

The discussion then touched on the balance between conservation and energy transition: yes to renewables, but with planning that is compatible with the landscape and the community (with attention to territorial connections and cumulative impacts).
