Big engagement of local institution and media at the 2nd Communication Event of the 4HelixAquaCultureNet project took place in Bari on 1 April 2026. It brought together partners, stakeholders and institutions from Italy and Greece.
The event fostered dialogue among businesses, research organisations, public authorities and civil society, in line with the Quadruple Helix approach, to address key challenges in the aquaculture sector.
Particular attention was given to innovative solutions aimed at improving fish health and welfare, including the use of advanced sensors capable of monitoring fish behaviour, oxygen levels and environmental conditions in real time. These technologies support more efficient and sustainable production systems.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of strengthening cross-border cooperation between Greece and Italy to develop a shared strategy for the sector, enhancing competitiveness and resilience in the Programme area.
The event was followed by a project meeting, where partners aligned on next steps, including the testing of innovative aquaculture techniques and the development of a smart e-aquaculture hub.
