Two more pieces of our history. Two more projects of the programme Interreg VI-A Greece-Italy 2021-2027. The OSI Breath and Chora have been approved and are almost ready to depart.
Breath (Building Cross Border resilience and prevention against Natural and Environmental Hazards) has been approved in the framework of the 3rd Call with the specific objective 2.4 “Climate change adaptation” and funded with euros 13.350.000.
The partnership is led by greek Ministry of climate crisis and civil protection with Region Of Western Greece, Region Of Ionian Islands, Region Of Epirus, Basilicata Region, Calabria Region and Puglia Region.
BREATH unites regional authorities and civil protection agencies from Greece and Italy to address shared vulnerabilities in the Ionian-Adriatic area.
Several tangible outputs anchor these efforts: anti-flood measures in Corfu (Region of Ionian Islands), advanced monitoring hubs in Preveza (Region of Epirus), innovative tsunami alert systems in Calabria, a multifunctional civil protection hub in Puglia, and improved coastal surveillance and risk management solutions in Basilicata and Western Greece.
Also CHORA (Cultural hubs for open and regenerative arts) have been approved in the framework of the 3rd Call with the specific objective 4.6 (Culture) and funded with a total budget of almost euros 7 mln.
The partnership is led by Puglia Region, Region of Western Greece, Region of Ionian Islands, Region Of Epirus, Basilicata Region and Calabria Region.
The main general objective of the project is the preservation and the valorization of the rich cross border cultural asset and the establishment of a permanent cultural dialogue between the parties. This will be achieved through the establishment of a cross-border network of multifunctional creative and cultural hubs, composed by buildings restored in the project and by already existing and operating sites (also in the perspective of the capitalization of previous project results). The project will leverage on initiatives as new and already established festivals celebrating diverse artistic practices, such as cinema, music, and theatre. In addition to these events, the project will focus on the training of artists and professionals in the cultural and creative industries field.
