On Friday 10th july 2026, our Programme took part in the training info day “From Interreg to Directly Managed EU Programmes”, held in Bari. The event brought together institutional representatives, Managing Authorities, Programme bodies, and project experts to discuss how the results achieved through Territorial Cooperation projects can be further developed and enhanced through directly managed European Union funding programmes.
The initiative provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and explore strategies for strengthening the long-term impact of Interreg projects by creating synergies between Cohesion Policy instruments and directly managed EU programmes.
During the afternoon session, the Interreg Greece–Italy Programme was represented by Giuseppe Gargano, Project Officer, who presented the Programme’s experience as a maritime cooperation programme. His presentation highlighted key achievements, successful approaches to the capitalisation of project results, and opportunities to maximise their sustainability and impact through complementary EU funding instruments.
The event reaffirmed the importance of capitalisation as a strategic approach to ensuring that the knowledge, networks, and solutions developed by Interreg projects continue to generate value beyond the lifetime of individual initiatives. By connecting project outcomes with new funding opportunities, cooperation programmes can contribute to more resilient, innovative, and sustainable development across European regions.
The Greece–Italy Programme thanks the organisers and partners for this valuable opportunity for dialogue and exchange, in particular Eutalia, Regione Puglia, and the other Programmes participating – Interreg IPA South Adriatic Programme and Interreg Italy–Croatia Programme, whose collaboration contributed to the success of the event.
