More than 30 older adults took part in a practical session organised by Co2gether on 3 August 2026 at the Day Care Centre of the Municipality of Thermo, Greece, putting into practice the training activities developed within the MINDFUL project.
The activity combined cognitive screenings with memory exercises, fine motor activities and recreational games designed to support healthy and active ageing.
For Co2gether’s team, the session represented an opportunity to put training into practice by observing participants’ individual needs, abilities and responses to different activities. This practical approach is an important part of the partner’s training pathway, which aims to strengthen the capacity of staff and volunteers to design more personalised, person-centred interventions for older people.
Among the activities tested during the session was also a new digital cognitive game developed by Marco, a 12-year-old boy, together with his mother, gerontologist Maria Zafeiropoulou.
The experience in Thermo will contribute to the preparation of Co2gether’s upcoming customised home-based interventions in Western Greece.
These interventions will focus on vulnerable older adults living in isolated and rural areas, where access to specialised healthcare and social support services can be more limited. The training programme is designed to help staff and volunteers adapt recreational and non-pharmacological activities to each person’s needs, life history and functional abilities.
By combining training, observation and direct engagement with beneficiaries, the activity provided a concrete example of MINDFUL’s approach: moving from shared methods and knowledge towards practical, personalised solutions that can support autonomy, well-being and social inclusion.
