MARKATO project was officially launched in Patras on September 30th and October 1 st .
The Kick off Meeting event was hosted by the Lead Beneficiary-Achaia Chamber of Commerce, in the “MARKATO” neighborhood of the city from which the project was inspired.
A warm welcome from Greek lead beneficiary, the Chamber of Achaia, introduced partners to the two intensive days of collaboration and planning, focusing on the technical issues needed to initiate the project’s activities and guarantee full compliance with EU programming standards.
After a brief presentation of the Greek and Italian partners, an overview was given of the results to be achieved in the first half of the year, from the graphic identity of the project and communication tools to the methodology for mapping traditional craft occupations in the regions covered by the project.
A supportive contribution came from the project officer Mr. Gargano who provided partnership instructions on the project management, reporting and monitoring activities.
By blending heritage with innovation, M.A.R.K.A.T.O. – Maintaining And Revitalizing Knowledge And Traditional Occupations will empower artisans to thrive in the digital age, foster cross-cultural connections, and ensure that centuries-old skills are passed on to future generations. It will shape a more resilient, creative, and sustainable future for heritage professions across Europe.
Co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Greece–Italy 2021–2027 Programme, the project involves six partners: the Chamber of Achaia (Lead Partner), the Chamber of Zakynthos, the Municipality of Metsovo, Creative Apulia Cluster Association, Foundation Matera Basilicata 2019 and the Municipality of Bisceglie.
