The DACC project aims to promote the digital transformation of tourist services in the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Matera, Monte Sant’Angelo, Corfu, and Olympia.
In line with the EU’s Digital Decade strategy, the project enhances the digitalization of the tourism sector, strengthens operators’ digital skills, and optimizes visitor flow management. By leveraging innovative technologies, DACC will improve the visitor experience and ensure the effective and sustainable promotion of cultural heritage. The UNESCO sites involved require innovative tools to manage visitors, valorize heritage, and reduce tourism seasonality. DACC addresses these gaps through training, big data use, and cross-border cooperation, fostering competitiveness and long-term sustainability.
The project is structured in a set of interlinked activities that combine research, training, and the implementation of innovative digital tools. These include the Digital Impact Assessment, which will analyze challenges and opportunities, collect historical and forecast data, and develop indicators to measure the digital impact on tourism; the Joint Training Program, which will provide modules for students, professionals, and creatives with practical sessions at UNESCO sites and replicable digital projects to improve heritage accessibility; the Cross-Border Digital Guidelines, aimed at defining shared strategies for digital management and promotion of UNESCO sites to bridge the digital divide; and International Exhibitions and Seminars to present project results through conferences, interactive exhibitions, and networking events, ensuring visibility and replicability of the solutions developed. Activities’ beneficiaries include tourism operators, SMEs, local authorities, schools, NGOs, and local communities, who will gain new skills, awareness, and tools to innovate cultural promotion and optimize heritage management.
