RE-USE Centres in Brindisi, Matera, Patras and Arta are gradually taking shape. RE-USE 3rd project meeting gathered in Arta representatives of the four partner municipalities to review the progress achieved so far, strengthen cross-border coordination and agree on the next operational steps. In particular, a special attention was devoted to the financial implementation of the project, communication activities and the advancement of Work Package 3.
From a financial perspective, partners reviewed the implementation of the planned activities and discussed the coordination required to keep procedures, expenditure and project deadlines aligned. This exchange was particularly important as the project moves further into its operational phase and the activities connected with the development of the Reuse Centres continue to progress.
Communication was another central topic. Partners discussed the actions needed to increase the visibility of RE-USE, ensure consistent communication across the four participating territories and engage citizens, schools, local authorities and stakeholders in the transition towards more responsible consumption models. The project’s communication activities include online channels, social media, promotional materials, educational content and local awareness-raising initiatives.
A significant part of the meeting was also dedicated to Work Package 3 – Preparatory Studies and Awareness Campaign. This work package provides the knowledge and engagement tools required to support the project’s practical activities. It includes an analysis of current waste-management practices in each municipality, public-awareness surveys, the preparation of educational materials and the organisation of community-engagement activities. These actions will help the partnership better understand local needs, promote waste prevention and encourage citizens to actively participate in reuse and circular-economy practices.
In this regard, the work carried out under WP3 closely alligned with the project’s main objective: the establishment of four Reuse Centres to facilitate the collection, repair and reuse of goods that can still have a useful life. Indeed, by preventing reusable items from becoming waste, the centres will contribute to reducing disposal, saving resources and supporting more sustainable local waste-management systems.
The meeting in Arta confirmed the partners’ shared commitment to transform the project’s objectives into concrete and lasting benefits for the communities involved, as well as provide responsible consumption and waste reduction. Step by step, RE-USE is turning cooperation into action, giving goods a second life and helping build more sustainable communities across Greece and Italy!
