On 27 November 2025, the EASY WASTE Living Lab “Co-design digital solutions for marine waste management” was successfully held in Brindisi, promoted by DiTNE, within the funded project EASY WASTE.
The session brought together fishers, port authorities, environmental operators and local stakeholders for an intensive co-design workshop aimed at developing innovative digital solutions to manage accidentally fished waste (marine litter) in ports across the cross-border area.
Participants worked on: validating the current situation and port operational context; applying “user journey mapping” to identify real needs and pain points; defining functional requirements for the future mobile app and web platform, prioritized through the MoSCoW matrix.
As a key activity of WP3 “Analysis, Design, and Development”, the Living Lab ensures that the project’s tools under development will fully align with both regulatory requirements and end users’ practical demands. Additionally, the event marked an important milestone for EASY WASTE, reinforcing the value of cooperation and practical input from the field in delivering solutions that are usable, effective and truly responsive to port communities, moving one step closer to cleaner seas and more smarter circular ports.
