The most common specific objectives, the newcomers potential beneficiaries and the areas of origin. Let’s deepen some features of the 126 projects admitted in the Stage A of the 1st Call for Project Proposals. The goal for each of these projects is clear: to become part of the Interreg VI-A Greece-Italy Programme 2021-2027.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES > Enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion, and social innovation is the specific objective for 27% of the 126 projects admitted. This means that 34 projects are focused on Specific Objective 4.6, a theme that has. Also, been very successful in the previous programming period 2014-2020. Twenty projects aim to promote the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy (SO 2.6 – 15.9%), while 16 projects focus on promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention and resilience (SO 2.4 – 12.7%). Additionally, 15 projects (11.9%) are dedicated to enhancing the protection and preservation of nature, biodiversity, and green infrastructure, including urban areas, and reducing all forms of pollution (SO 2.7).
NEWCOMERS > The admitted projects feature a total of 632 potential beneficiaries, of which 289 are newcomers (45.7%). This is a particularly satisfying number, especially since most of these newcomers hail from two newly eligible areas: Calabria (24.6%) and Basilicata (22.8%). Additionally, there are 48 newcomers from Puglia (16.6%) and Western Greece (13.8%). Smaller numbers of newcomers come from Epirus (8.3%), the Ionian Islands (7.6%), and 6.2% from outside the eligible area.
AREAS OF ORIGIN > The 32.6% of the admitted projects are from Puglia (206 beneficiaries), 20.4% from Western Greece (129 beneficiaries), and 13.6% from Epirus (86 beneficiaries). There are also beneficiaries from the Ionian Islands (11.7%), Calabria (11.2%), and Basilicata (10.4%).
