On September 18, 2025, the Kick-Off Meeting of the ANEMOS project was held at Pyrgos City Hall, officially launching a cross-border initiative to enhance climate resilience in ports and marine ecosystems across Greece and Italy. The event brought together all project partners and featured contributions from representatives of the Interreg Greece–Italy Programme, including the Communication Officer, Project Officer, and JS Coordinator.
Participants presented the activities already undertaken, outlined the upcoming work plan, and reaffirmed their joint commitment to sustainable, resilient, and integrated port management through cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange.
ANEMOS promotes innovative solutions such as early warning systems, drone-based operational protocols, and AI-powered tools to mitigate environmental risks and improve emergency response. These will be tested in pilot ports in both countries, with the active involvement of local authorities, port operators, and research institutions.
Co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Greece–Italy 2021–2027 Programme, the project involves six partners: the Municipal Harbour Fund of Pyrgos (Lead Partner), the Port Authority of Corfu, the Special Account for Research University of Athens, the Metropolitan City of Bari, and the Municipalities of Nardò and Corigliano-Rossano. The total budget is €1,435,500.10.
