Strategic projects: those have been the focus of the IV Monitoring Committee (MC) of Interreg VI-A Greece-Italy 2021-2027 held last 2nd october in Athens.
As central decision-making body for the Programme, the MC approved two Operations of Strategic Importance (OSI), whose calls closed last 5th September.
The first approved OSI is focused on Tourism, with the specific objective “Enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation” (SO4.6) and a budget of euros 7millions (increased by the MC to 10 mln).
The second approved OSI is focused on Growth and Competitiveness of SMEs, with a budget of €5.000.000 million and with the specific objective “Enhancing growth and competitiveness of SMEs and job creation in SMEs” (SO1.3).
Also the MC approved the budget increase of a further 3 million of the OSI focused on Culture, with the specific objective “Enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation” and a budget of euros 7millions (increased by the MC to 10 mln).
The Monitoring Committee was also the opportunity to meet each other members in person and to talk about crucial topics in order to ensure quality and effectiveness of the Programme’s implementation. Managing Authority and Joint Secretariat members told to the representatives of Greek National Authority (Chair), Italian National Authority (Co-chair) and DG REGIO programme officer (European Commission) and to the other components of the MC about the Programme’s state of play 2021-2027, the 2014-2020 closure progress and the timetable of planned calls.
Words of appreciation were expressed for the ongoing communication activities, among which reaching the final of REGIOstars award with the Re-water project and the Interreg Cooperation Day scheduled on October 20th at the Electra Palace Hotel in Thessaloniki for the celebration of 35 years of Interreg and 20 years of MA in the city.
